I created the swirling lines using a "boid" behaviour system in Unity, a video game engine. There are two types of "agents": a leader type and a follower type. The followers try to pursue the leaders, while avoiding each other. Their behavior is also affected by the volume of the music, which moduates the speed and sensitivity of both leaders and followers. The trails mark the paths of the agents as they swoop and swirl around in 3 dimensions.
