Meet the Lumière Dreamers: Chris Davis

Chris Davis looks to share his twenty-plus years of professional experience having worked with many of North America’s finest musicians such as Sharon Jones, Jon Batiste, Michael Bublé and John Legend. Chris offers in-person private jazz trumpet lessons for beginner to intermediate players ages 12 and up. By deliberately adopting a non-regimented approach to learning basic elements of jazz trumpet Chris aims to help you grow skills such as listening, producing your best sound, reading, expanding your range, and simple approaches to improvisation (if desired). This could include helping you with materials from your school, church and community ensembles, or the introduction to new material.

In addition to being one of the coaches for the VSOSoM Jazz combos, Chris also hosts and coaches the school’s beginner Jazz trumpet ensemble. Available to players 15 and up, the slightly faster paced beginner Jazz trumpet ensemble shares a similar format as that of the private lessons with the added element of a group setting. Chris supports the progression of diversity, inclusion and all other forms of representation.
