Lighting & Sound Workshop

Our second step was the Qlab workshop. For that, we divided dance creators into two main teams who then taught one another: one group focused on programing lights and the other one focused on programing projections. This was a strategic learner-centered process with support from the research literature emphasizing ‘student becoming teacher’ as a methodology to accelerate learning.

Lighting~

Dance creators were trained using 2 Orion ORCAN2 LED RGB Par Can lights.

Sound design and music~

The four types of music (jazz, classical, two types of pop) were composed by Mike Allen. The dancer creators (Alex Clancy, Ana Sosa, Devan Genereux and Lisa Rose Metz) adapted their choreography and improvised movement with the musical compositions. Stereo speakers were floor mounted and pointed up from two locations upstage left and right.
