Creative Residency 2020
Small Stage continues to bring together a broad range of dance artists living in Vancouver.
This summer our residency focused on dance as a universal language-less art form that can break down cultural barriers and create cross cultural conversations, as we collectively exist in the digital age.
Our goal is to contribute to the tapestry of our community and create a future that connects dance to the general public in new and interesting ways.
Our vision at Small Stage is to explore the mosaic of Canadian dance and music in ways that are accessible to all audiences. Small Stage brings together artists from different cultural traditions, who combine established styles as well as contemporary influences. This has included Contemporary Dance, Ballet, Hip-Hop, Tap, Street, Flamenco, Bhaṅgṛā, Indian classical, Japanese, Chinese, Scottish Highland, Burlesque and many others - that reflect the depth of unique and talented artists who are part of Vancouver’s cultural community.
This project was funded through Multiculturalism, and Anti-Racism Initiatives Program Projects Component.
